Pipeline. Haleiwa, Hawaii.
In the true spirit of SION MILOSKY we are celebrating this winter season with the first annual STEEP & DEEP PIPELINE PHOTO CHALLENGE. Catching big, vertical, deep barreling waves at Pipeline is a passion SION pursued every winter for the love of it. In honor of SION we are looking for the steepest and deepest surf photo of the 2011-2012 winter season at PIPELINE or BACKDOOR. This is a prestigious event and requires great skill and drive.

I need to add some of those grip workout things to my Summer training regiment. Thanks to Spunjah Chronic for the clip!
Amaury Lavernhe wins the 2010 Turbo Bodyboards Pipe Pro. Here’s his perfect 10 from the final heat of the day. A disappointing day for the Hawaiians, as none are able to advance out of the quarterfinals. I’ve got a ton more footage from the contest, as well as Wednesday’s Pipeline Bodysurfing Classic, just need some time to cut it together.
Congrats again to Amaury, he was in rhythm all day and definitely deserved the win.
No contest today, which means tomorrow is a go for the 2010 Turbo Bodyboards Pipe Pro. Conditions dramatically improved overnight, with the winds clocking around to more Easterly trades. Everyone has been looking at Friday since the beginning of the week, and the forecast is outstanding: large, long-period NW swell with East winds. If it’s as epic as the models predict, it’ll be worth every penny of the entry fee.
