Managed to second-place my way through three rounds of competition today. Fun but small conditions in the a.m. turned to utter mush by round six, resulting in some really challenging conditions for everyone.
The chatter is that they’re trying to run tomorrow, due to the many contestants who booked departures on the 25th. A permitting conflict with a Haleiwa event (that was later canceled) meant that this past weekend was off-limits (Sunday was epic), so the original permit was extended by the city from the 24th to the 26th. Looking at the swell and wind forecasts, it’s looking like Friday might be a better call, but we’ll have to see how things go down tomorrow morning.
